Michael Ray Podgorenko

In Loving Memory

Michael Ray Podgorenko

December 5, 1943 – November 4, 2022

It’s with profound sadness that The Podgorenko Family announces the passing of Michael on November 4, 2022, at Victoria General Hospital.

He was born and grew up on a large farm in Creston, BC.  At the age of 17 years, he moved to Victoria and became a union electrician for Camosun Electric and worked all over Victoria. He loved gardening and growing things, which was the farm upbringing he knew.

After a province-wide construction lock-out in 1979, Mike and his partner Robert Hammer went into a private Electrical Business called Regal Electric.  Mike worked in Victoria and Robert worked in Campbell River.  After a few years in business, Robert terminated his partnership and Mike took over and renamed his business Regal Electric Ltd. where he worked for 39 years between Victoria and Campbell River.

He is predeceased by his mom Kay and father Mike Podgorenko Sr., three brothers and one sister.  He is survived by his wife Sylvia of almost 56 years, his daughter Shannon (Paul), son Jerred, daughter-in-law Galit, and granddaughter Shyly, daughter Meggan, son-in-law Jordan and granddaughter Kaelen.

A Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00am the Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Dr., Victoria, BC with a reception following at The Lakes (Holiday Inn) on Elk Lake Drive which is across the highway from the burial park.
