David Edward Broster

Dave ran out of steam and hung up his slide rule on November 27, 2018 in Victoria, BC.

He was predeceased by his wife, Neva (nee Nonis) and leaves behind his daughter, Barbara (Bart), son, Brian (Ross) and close friends, the Elbers.

His love of life started out on September 4, 1928 in Crawford Bay and carried on with a move to Trail in 1940. Graduation from UBC in mechanical engineering was followed by an enjoyable 34 year career with Imperial Oil. In retirement, he was active in the Esso Annuitant Club and took much pleasure in tackling technical design projects – his steam tables and T-square were always close at hand.

He was a true gentleman, known for his generous nature, genuine warmth, appreciation of good food & wine with family & friends, sense of humour and witty Christmas letters.

Special thanks for the care & friendships at Mount Tolmie Hospital.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in the new year. You may contact us for more info. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Salvation Army.

  1. Hey Barb and Brian we miss your dad a lot at Tolmie and please let us know when you have a service for him and as he knew every song I did I would be honoured to sing for him. You name the tune! Mom doing well but getting over a cold. I recall how happy he was when you had that picnic for him with Chiarelli cheese and all his favourite delicacies!!!! You can contact me at 2508126854 and please take care! Cam
