Bob Starr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Starr on August 25, 2023 at Royal Jubilee Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 5, 1947 in Vancouver.  He graduated from BCIT which led to a successful career in sales and real estate.  He lived a full meaningful life collecting a lot of gratitude along the way.

Survived by his loving wife of 52 years Eila, daughter Miila (Craig), son Sean (Renee) and his grandchildren, Damon, Travis and Madden, who he adored with all his heart.  Bob held many titles in his life but his favourite role was being a devoted husband and father.  He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was always there for them whether he was cheering from the sidelines or giving a helping hand where needed.  He truly enjoyed meeting and making meaningful connections with people locally and all around the world.  His family is at peace knowing that he lived an amazing life and that we have so many wonderful memories to hold onto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation:  Royal Jubilee Cardiac Care.  A private family celebration will be held in honour of Bob’s life.

  1. John Barrie Foster

Although we only knew Bob for a few years, our friendship was deep and meaningful. He was such a loving and caring person, who we will miss every day. Knowing that his suffering is over, will help us all get over our great loss.

  2. Gone far to soon, Bob was an intelligent, honest, honourable man, but firstly he was a friend. I will miss him. My condolences to you all

  3. When I first met Bob through Eila, some forty years ago, he impressed me as an exceptional family man who made the time to really connect. Though busy with his career , kids and sports, he was unfailingly kind and sincere. I used to love how he told the story of how he and Eila met and fell in love. Mark and I feel fortunate that we were able to reconnect with the Starrs again a few years ago, rekindling a valued friendship and sharing some lovely visits. We will always cherish our recent conversations that were so meaningful. Eila, Miila, Sean and families – please accept our condolences. May your memories of Bob and the knowledge that he was a truly good man bring you comfort and peace.

  4. Eila, Miila, Craig, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your dear husband and devoted father. My memories of Bob stretch back to 1964, when he first met his cousins in Wales. Our friendship was cemented when I stayed with Bob in the summer of 1968 when we were young 20 year olds. I have so many fond memories of my dearest cousin, and I am so thankful I knew him in my life,
Graham, Sue and Simon Avery, (Bob always affectionately called me “Ging Ging”)

  5. He was my mentor, friend, confidante, cheer leader, kindred Christian spirit and I shall miss him…but mostly I shall celebrate the awesome person he was and the great memories of our many get togethers for coffee at rotten Ronnie’s on Shelbourne. A life very very well lived. Enjoy Heaven my dear friend! 🌹❤️
