Roy Elvin Green (1952–2024)
Roy Elvin Green was born in Nelson, BC, and was adopted into the loving home of Roy and Daphne Green of Kaslo, BC, after the loss of his mother during childbirth.
As a youth, Roy spent his summers swimming in Kootenay Lake, working as a lifeguard, and assisting his father on the S.S. Moyie. As a young adult, he drove an ambulance in the West Kootenays and worked as a paramedic.
After leaving home, Roy’s career spanned 35 years in the mining industry in the Elk Valley, where he served as Administrator of Loss Control and Employee Services Coordinator. He also taught industrial first aid. Over the years, he earned awards and certifications and had the honour of teaching work-related disciplines at Dalhousie University. Roy was highly respected by all who knew him well.
Roy’s life was filled with pain and mobility issues due to a combination of accidents in early adulthood. His family were witness to how he withstood his struggles with solid strength and determination. This was an example of his trust in God for each day despite continuing pain without healing.
Roy loved being a grandpa and spending time with his grandkids. He cared about their various interests, and his love and care will be deeply missed.
Roy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret, of 31 years, his sisters Kathy and Eileen, his daughter Colleen (Jeremy), his stepchildren Julie (Ryan) and Dan, and his grandchildren: Abigail, Charles, Evelyn, Oliver, Mara, and Milo.
A service and tea will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, in the chapel at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.

On behalf of the Chandler family I’d like to convey our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of our dear cousin Roy.. We hold fond memories of Roy from our childhood visits to Kaslo and again when he retired with Margie to Victoria .. He was a wonderful friend to our Dad.. his Uncle Bill.. in his last chapter of life here…& we’ve no doubt that close bond will be continued together where they are now! Much love to Margie and her family, and cousin Kathy as they too grieve his loss. XO Linda
