Robert Frank Gray

Robert Frank Gray
April 11, 1951 – August 4, 2016
Bob passed away in Victoria at the age of 65 years after a 12 year battle with cancer. He left on his own terms, having lived life as fully as he could. Bob was the beloved husband of Leah, father of Hayden and Wyatt (Robyn Peters), brother of Alana McLean (Dana), John Gray (Judy) and Leslie Gray. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret Evelyn Gray and Robert Brigham Gray. Born in Calgary in 1951, Bob graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1978. He was a Landman for over 30 years and a member of CAPL for over 35. Bob was well respected, conducting himself with integrity, professionalism, compassion, and strength. He retired from EnCana in 2010. Bob was involved with the Landmen’s Association, organizing conferences, social events and CAPL Professionalism. He was active in sports his whole life, enjoying swimming, curling, golf, fastball, flag football, skiing, badminton and squash. He coached his sons in badminton, soccer and football. Moving to Victoria in 2010, Bob would not let his cancer define him; he became passionate about photography as a new pastime. Bob and Leah took many photography trips between chemo treatments to capture the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Bob touched many lives, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Many thanks to the various Health Professionals at the Tom Baker Cancer Center, the Victoria Cancer Center, East Kootenay Cancer Center and the Victoria Hospice. A memorial honoring Bob’s life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club, August 18th 1:00 pm. Donations can be made to Kidsport, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Victoria Hospice.
