Richard Karl Wittur

January 25, 1947 – April 7, 2017
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Wittur, on April 7, 2017 at Victoria General Hospital.

Richard was born on January 25,1947 in Penticton, BC to the late Alfons & Kathleen Wittur.
Richard was an amazing and humble man, full of enthusiasm, kindness, encouragement and most of all love. Richard always saw the best in everyone he met. When Richard was not travelling the world, he was outside hiking in the great outdoors. The “Central Okanagan Hiking Club” was founded 1997 by Richard and later evolved into the “Central Okanagan Outdoor Club”, now with close to 500 members. Richard moved to Victoria to be closer to his daughter in the fall of 2015. Richard regularly attended the “meet-up coffee group” gatherings, and that is where he met a wonderful group of friends. In January, Richard celebrated his 70th birthday with many of these friends.

Richard is survived by his son, Brad (Cyndi) of Beaverlodge, daughter, Pamela (Mark), of Victoria, grandchildren, Danica, Emma, Lauren of Kelowna, Cole, Emma, Riley of Beaverlodge and Aiden and Aspen of Victoria; siblings, Laurie (Gordie), Glen (Pat), Rosalie (Jim), Trudy, Gordon (Loretta), sister-in-law Linda and numerous nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother Ray Wittur.

We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care during Richards numerous visits and the end of life care.

A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on April 15, 2017 at Springfield Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting http://www.springfieldfuneralhome.com 250-860-7077.
