Larry passed away March 2, 2026 after a long period of declining health. He was born in Galt, Ontario on April 19, 1950. Larry was predeceased by his parents Bob and Eileen as his younger brother Daryl (Janice, Bryson (Rebecca) and Zac). He leaves behind his wife Linda, and sons Daniel (Aysha) and Drew.
Originally from Ontario, Larry worked for Canada Post and transferred to B.C. in 1989. That job also brought him something even more important – it is where he met Linda. Their relationship moved quickly and happily, and they were married in 1990.
Larry spent many years giving back to the community. He was a valued member of the Central Saanich Lions for fifteen years and also helped coach Challenger baseball for many years, always supporting the players with kindness and humor.
He had a great sense of humor and a lifelong love of music. He and his mother were die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jay fans. For twenty years, he played bass guitar in a band called Trolley. He would always have music playing in the car. A favorite memory was listening to “Life in the Fast lane” by the Eagles over and over with his sons and listening to playlists that his boys created for him.
Family meant everything to Larry. He never missed an appointment, sports practice, game, or school concert for his boys. Showing up for the people he loved was simply what he did.
Larry created many small traditions that his family will always remember. Family pictures with Santa, banging pots and pans on New Year’s eve, making sure there was always pop and chips ready for sleepovers and never forgetting to give his precious cats and loving dogs daily treats.
Larry will always be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the many simple ways he showed his love for his family.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of Larry’s passing.
Larry was a beautiful, kind, uplifting and often hilarious presence in our mostly women Chair Fit Plus class. (He came by this illustrious one-man band title honestly). If Larry wasn’t grumbling about our strenuous series of gruelling exercises, then he was cheekily addressing our relentless taskmaster, Corinne, just…because. We will always be most grateful for the time we did have with Larry. He lifted our days and spirits in many ways with…or without dumbbells!
Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to Linda, Daniel and Drew.
Much Love from the Chair Fit Crew at Shoal

Our deepest condolences to Linda and family- I worked with Larry in the 90’s at Discovery Street Depot and in Sidney when he worked in the registration–Larry was a joy to work with- he was so efficient, kind and quiet, but when he did share a story in the lunch room we loved his deep radio announcer’s voice and always wished for a longer story- He had such a GREAT stride as well when he walked by you–I am happy he was able to enjoy his retirement – in those days we all looked forward to it 🙂 RIP Larry..
