Eluned Hughes

In Memoriam of Eluned Hughes

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eluned May Hughes on the 27th day of February, 2020. She was born in Port Said, Egypt on the 21st of November, 1952 to Doris and Aneurin Hughes. She departed this world in Victoria, BC at the age of 67 surrounded by loved ones.

She is remembered by her loving children Hannah Morwen and Timothy Owen (Shaylee Dawn), in the laughter of her two granddaughters Hazel Kate and Poppy Ray, and the memories of her beloved Auntie Nell, big brother Elwyn, and her adoring family near and far.

Eluned was a kind and loyal soul who cared deeply about her family, her coworkers, and especially her cherished group of friends. She loved nothing more than to travel the world with the people she enjoyed most. She had a bountiful heart when it came to helping others, and making the world a better place for future generations. She actively encouraged everyone around her to engage in their neighbourhoods and the larger global community to create positive change.

An aspiring writer, she loved the cinema, a good book, and classical music. She had a beautiful singing voice which she shared with many by joining choirs throughout her life. Eluned was eager to make those around her happy, and she was always up for a good adventure. For this reason, we invite all who wish to say goodbye, share their stories, or just be around a great bunch of people to join us in raising a pint to the irreplaceable Eluned Hughes at the Gorge Point Pub.

Please contact elunedhughes1952@gmail.com for the date and time.

“The journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.”   J.R.R. Tolkien

Missing you already. I will always remember your smile, your laugh, and the way you made coming into work better for everyone. I will think of you every time I return to my “home” of Vic, have drinks at the Sticky, hang with the QP gang. Love you and will miss you dearly. xo

  4. Sylvia and David Wallace

Although it has been quite some time since we last saw Eluned (since she left Richmond to go West) we were two families drawn here from U.K. Our children bonded and to this day maintain a special friendship. I will never forget her kindness when David and I were in England because of my mother’s passing. She stepped up to the plate and took care of our girls. Our hearts go out to Hannah, Tim and his family.

  5. Susan Haskins

  6. Joël Griffiths

Hard to believe it has been almost 2 months since saying goodbye. I will be forever grateful for the friendship we had which I cannot find suitable words to describe. Whether it was a beer & nachos night, a PJ party or a weekend excursion, we always managed to solve a few problems, debate a few topics, share matters of the heart and laugh a lot… RIP my friend.
Deepest condolences to Hannah, Tim and family.
