Colin Thomas McConnachie

The family of Colin Thomas McConnachie mourn his passing on August 24, 2023 in Sidney, BC, confident that he is now at peace following a lengthy illness.

Born on November 6, 1942 in Leeds, England, he travelled the world as an army kid, later to proudly join the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada.  Aged 12, he worked in coal mines in England, and when his family came to Canada, he met his wife (Diane Louise Jenner) in Ontario. Together they moved their beloved children: son, Kevin McConnachie (Terri), and daughter, Cathleen McConnachie (Mike Specker), for the vast opportunities & adventure in BC.

Colin came from the school of hard knocks, he would say, and with tenacity he rose to key management positions in Prince George, Campbell River, and Prince Rupert to eventually retire from the John Howard Society, here in PG.

He was a boxer, a marathoner, an avid gardener, enjoyed his fishing boat and books, wrote poetry, tried his hand at carpentry and was a fierce Father, Pappa and Great Pappa. There was not much in life he would not take on – or try, including his acting debut as an extra in the movie “Reindeer Games”!

Colin was formidable, brave, intrepid, complicated, and he accomplished so much despite adversity. He so cherished his family and will be profoundly missed❤️
