Christel Novak

After her very private and lengthy battle with cancer, Christel was taken away on Angels wings Tuesday May 24, 2022. She was peaceful and surrounded by family.
Christel was born in Germany in 1939. She met her beloved husband Allan and moved to Canada, where she taught herself to speak, read and write English. Christel retired after working 25 years at the Hudson’s Bay in Victoria BC. She was an elegant beautiful lady who loved life. Her passion was flowers, cooking and being with her family.
Her heart never healed from the loss of her youngest son, Steven, who she cried for every day.
She was an inspiration for kindness, caring and happiness.
No matter what she was going through, Christel remained positive and full of love to anyone she encountered.
She will never be forgotten and forever missed.
Christel is survived by her darling husband of 61 years, Allan; Son, David (Shannon); Daughter, Michelle (Jason); Grandsons, Torsten (Emily) and Clayton (Kori); Great granddaughter Zella, who she was so excited to see grow up. She is also survived by her sister, Barbel; and brothers, Joseph, Heinz, and Willie.
Her family was the most treasured gift to her.
Thank you to the amazing Team of doctors and nurses at the Victoria Cancer Clinic, and the above and beyond care she received from the oncology and palliative care nurses on the 8th floor at the jubilee hospital. She would have hugged and kissed you all!
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to BC Cancer Agency.

    Dear Allan,
my maiden name was Helga Dort, born in 1939 at Homburg, Germany. When
I was young, I had a girl friend named Christel, and years later I met her
in Homburg and she told me that she was married with a man named
Nowak. Afterwards I never met her again. Was that girl I knew in the days of my youth your wife? Anyway,, please accept my sincere condolence.
