Grant Christian Schwartzentruber was born on July 9, 1945 in Blake, Ontario and died on December 11, 2023 in Victoria, BC of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by one daughter, Tamara Lynn (partner Robin Mercy, grandsons Akasha and Kirin); and two sons, Jeremy Andrew (Neeltje Boogert, granddaughters Maia and Nora); and Bennet Ian Tedric (Julia Tan). He is predeceased by his older brother Glenn, and survived by four sisters and a brother: Ferne, Mary-Mae, Nancy, Barb, and John.
He leaves behind many excellent friends collected over the years at work, church, and everywhere else. Grant is remembered by them as a deeply caring and wise man, one who always shared his time and the bounty of his garden. The love he showed others lives on in them. He is missed.

I worked with Grant for many years at the John Howard Society. Grant was always a kind and gentle person who always had a warm greeting, a big smile and encouragement for everyone he met. He was able to mentor many of the staff (including myself) during his time at JHS and helped them to become more caring and compassionate people. You always hope that you will make the world a better place and Grant certainly did that in so many ways with so many people.
