Randy David Machtmes

April 1, 2021 by Pacific Coast Cremation 10 Condolences

May 15, 1975 – March 25, 2021

Randy was born in Kamloops, BC and was the firstborn son of Ed and Gail Machtmes. The family moved to Victoria in 1978, where Randy would live for the rest of his life. He joined the military, and spent his personal time giving his support, strength and love to his community, his church, his friends and his family.

Randy loved God as well as his friends and family, and will be remembered for all the good he contributed. He leaves behind his parents Ed and Gail, his brother Steven (Jennifer), his sister Anne, and many, many more who cared for him. He will be deeply and sorely missed, and he will always be loved.

A private service will be held for Randy’s friends and family.

My first memory of Randy is when all the family went out for Christmas dinner at Snow Valley. My mother asked where the washroom was, & Randy got up and Randy escorted her there. That was the of first of many nice things he did. We came and visited Victoria we rented a beach cabin, I was walking around in the ocean looking at the starfish & the urchins, it was fascinating, but I slipped and fell and Randy was the first one there helping me out of the water and made sure I was alright. He loved the outdoors, the cottage and kayaking with his family. Randy was the type of man that you can count on to be there for you and would always lend you a helping hand. He will be sorely missed. There hasn’t been a day gone by thinking of the loss of Randy that was so tragic. Our love to you all and if there is anything we can do to help you through, Marvin And I will always be there for you all.

I worked with Randy many times over the the past six years, in some cases quite closely together. I always appreciated working with him, and knew him as a good sailor. I was always happy to run into him, as seemed to happen at least every other month, and loved to catch up on what we’d been up to since last time.

I grieve his loss and offer my heartfelt condolences to his family.

    Dear Randy
I’m so sorry that you were filled with such sorrow and despair. I wish you had felt that you could have reached out for help – without any shame. God loves us and died for anything and everything that may enter our life. But, I do understand that it’s hard to see past the gloom sometimes.
I so enjoyed the times we had together at your Mom and Dad’s place. And, thank you for attending Kelly’s baptism. You were the cousin that they knew the best.
I wish life hadn’t also been so busy because I would have met more often with you guys on the island. Time, like family, is so precious and you were definitely a precious soul!
I am so sad you are gone. But, I look forward to seeing you again in a better land where there is no more sorrow!

Dear Ed, Gail, Steven and Anne
I so wish I could make your pain vanish. But, I know one day, in that great reunion in heaven, the unbearable grief and sorrow will be all forgotten. And, there will only be happiness. I look forward to personally seeing your joy completely restored on the other side of Jordan.
May the Good Lord bless you and keep you and ever shine His Contenance upon you! I pray for you every day that you may be comforted.
    Hugs and Love,
    Colleen, David, Kelly and Jacqueline

    My condolences to your family.
I served with Randy and we spent a lot of time chatting in the ‘ cave ‘ .
Yes, you made a mistake. But I’m sure you could have gotten passed it.
    You are missed.
