Torrey Calvin Riendeau (May 20, 1982-Oct 01, 2022)
It is with heavy hearts and a whole lot of tears that we say goodbye to Torrey, who suffered traumatic injuries in a motorcycle accident Sep 16. Torrey lived life to the fullest, working hard and playing hard: building/construction, skateboarding, dirt biking, fishing and doing his signature gainer off the Nanaimo River Trestle. Torrey was very creative and good with his hands! He leaves behind his girlfriend Maia, son Jayden, parents Cal (Marjorie) & Colleen (Victor), brothers Devin & Grayson, sister Stacey in Australia, many cousins and innumerable friends who miss him terribly. Torrey was much loved by so many. He started life in Horsefly, and at the age of six, moved to Gabriola with his mom and brothers. When Torrey was ten years old, he and Devin moved to their dad’s home in Nanaimo. We wish to thank the amazing trauma unit at Nanaimo Hospital, the incredible ICU team at Victoria General and BC Organ Transplant. Torrey’s enthusiasm for life and his kind heart will remain with us forever. RIP our loving son Torrey!
A Celebration of Life will be held May 20, 2023, 1 pm to 3 pm at Beban Park Social Center, Lounge C, Nanaimo, BC

My condolences to his family Maia and children. Iam great full to have the memories of 3 years almost every day with him. Even if someday I wanted to smuther him with a pillow while he slept… we always found a way to come to some sort of compromise. Usually I just agreed. It was so much easier. Anyways. He was sure one of a kind and I know I won’t ever forget the hilarious times never mind discussing messages I would be cringing as I opened them. Did not want to sometimes but for some reason always did. Love ya forever. Rest in peace tor xo

Just learning of Torrey’s passing and so I wanted to share this poem by Nancy Wood with family and friends, (quote): A long time I have lived with you. And now we must be going Separately to be together. Perhaps I shall be the wind To blur your smooth waters So that you do not see your face too much. Perhaps I shall be the star To guide your uncertain wings So that you have direction in the night Perhaps I shall be the fire To separate your thoughts So that you do not give up…..
