On the morning of June 12th surrounded by family and friends Daryl Steffens passed away peacefully in the sunshine under a blue sky. Whether riding his horses, or his motorcycle, he loved being outside in the fresh air on a perfect day.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Daryl lived most of his 66 years of life on Vancouver Island, spending more than 40 years in Port Alberni. He loved travelling and exploring other cultures. An active learner with a strong inquisitiveness about the world. Daryl loved sharing the things that interested him, from philosophy and spirituality to mysteries of the universe and the existence of extra-terrestrials.
Daryl leaves behind his daughters; Amber, Brandi, and Chelsea (Jeff), granddaughters; Alice and Freya, sisters; Denise, Margo, and Vanessa, his beloved dog; his little buddy, Askim, and many other beloved family members and friends.

We were saddened to hear of cousin Daryl’s passing. Although the years have passed,

We wish we had the perfect words, but know that we are holding you close in our hearts. A special memory of my cousin, Daryl, was during a family visit to us in Saskatoon, August 1974. Daryl got a chess set for his 15th birthday and taught me how to play chess. He also taught me how to shuffle cards! we had lots of fun playing games. We hope special memories show up for you when you need them the most. Daryl will always be in our hearts.
