
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Paddison Rigsby Morigeau on July 27, 2026 in Victoria, BC at the age of 95.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband Edward Morigeau (July 31, 2009), her parents Thomas & Emily Paddison, as well as her brothers Edward, Eric, and Roy, and her sisters, Evelyn, Margaret, Beverly and Alice.
Shirley was born in North Vancouver on September 10, 1930. She moved to Nanaimo with her second husband, Ernie Rigsby, in 1966, where they raised Grant, Jessica and Debra together. They remained married until 1973.
In 1974 she met and married Edward Morigeau, and they spent there 35 Years together living in to Langley, Salmon Arm and Merrit. They would spend their winter months at the Fountain of Youth Spa in Niland, California. After Edward’s passing in 2009, Shirley moved from Merritt BC to Beaumont, AB, to live with her Daughter Jessica, and her Husband Tom Foster. The three moved to Victoria, BC in 2014 where they lived together until the passing of Tom in late 2024.
Shirley had many interests and talents. In her youth. As an avid skier, she spent time on Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. She was also a cosmetician for Woodwards, Eatons, Sears, Mary Kay and London Drugs. Some of her proudest accomplishments were the years spent building the Paddison Family Tree, running the Candy Stipper unit at the Salmon Arm hospital, and teaching with Weight Watchers. Shirley had a love for making crafts and sewing clothes for herself. She was always willing to share her knowledge with friends and family, including her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children Grant (Rosemary), Jessica and Debra. Her step children Rick Morigeau, Tony (Claudia) , Wendy Magowan (Brian), Cindy Vanderby (Jim), Janice Yaskow (Wayne).She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren who she deeply cherished.
During the last year of her life, she stayed at the Gorge Road Hospital, where she became a favourite among the care staff. She was visited every Sunday by her granddaughter, Megan Roberts, who would bring her sweet treats to calm her Gramma’s sweet tooth.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful nurses, doctors and care team at Bridgeview Unit, Gorge Road Hospital for their patience and compassionate care.

I only met Shirley a few times but the few times I met her she was always pleasant and full of joy. She had many talents and always had something nice to say about someone. From reading her obituary it sounds like she lived a full life. Rest in peace Shirley, it was an honour to have met and know you.
