“Mel” 72 years of age in the town of Victoria, Passed away at home with his family and friends Loving embrace. On June 7th, 2019.
Mel Smith Son of Alma Pearl Finnerty and Aubrey “Pop” Smith was born on July 31,st 1946 in Halifax Nova Scotia, Mel’s family Moved to Victoria in the 60’s When he was a young man with his Mother and little sister Brendalee Wallace.
Mel had two passions in life they were his family, his son Lance Smith, daughters Kellie Smith, Shannon Alexander, his Grandchildren from Shannon and Taylor Alexander, Kayden Alexander, Kylie Alexander and Klay Alexander. Mel’s other passion was working with the Victoria Grizzlies Hockey club.
A Celebration of life Ceremony will take place with Gordon Thurston at 1:00.PM. At Hatley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Thursday June 20th, 2019.
The Victoria Grizzlies Hockey Club will host a reception at 2:00.P.M. At Juan de Fuca golf course Fieldhouse.

Condolences for the family of “Melvin Day Fredrick Smith”
Sincere condolences to Mel’s Family and friends. When we moved to Victoria in 1986 I met him and Ron at a Cougar game. We struck up a friendship there and I was made to feel welcome immediately. I have never forgotten that. RIP Mel you will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Mel’s passing, he was a great neighbor for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his children and grandchildren.
