Marilyn Lorraine Johnston-Watson (nee Quayle)

Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on February 10, 2018. Born in Victoria BC on October 26, 1934 she was predeceased by her husband, Charles; daughter, Carolyn; brother, Gary; and sister, Nadine. Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her children, Christine (Ray), Roderick (Gail), Shelley (Brant), Catherine (Guy), Gregory (Michelle), Daniel (Nicole); her niece, Beverly (Steve); 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Marilyn returned to the Island over 40 years ago and worked at Marigold Nurseries for many years before retiring to her cabin in Sooke. She spoke frequently and fondly of her many friends and colleagues, enjoyed Mexican train with the “Vipers,” and being involved in the Sooke Community. Most importantly Marilyn cherished spending time with her family and always enjoyed a good road trip to the ranch.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion #54, 6726 Eustace Road, Sooke BC on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion #54 or the Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society.

George and I are both sad to hear that Marilyn has passed. She was such a kind and caring person. We always enjoyed our chats together at Sunday breakfasts and I always looked forward to Christmas lunch with the girls at the Four Mile at our special table.

My condolences to the family. I learned so much about gardening from Marilyn on my trips to Marigold. She had a wealth of information, was always smiling and friendly. My store visits were never the same after she retired. Marilyn was a very special person.
