It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Butler on Sunday Sept 20, 2020 in his 80th year. He was a peaceful, soft spoken man that was much loved by family and friends. Born on April 04, 1940, Lorne was the son of a Salvation Army Brigadier. The family lived in several places across Canada as Lorne and his siblings grew. Lorne was a dedicated lover of music, playing many instruments, mainly the organ for several churches in Victoria. Lorne did volunteer work with the homeless shelter and would play for the elderly in nursing homes with his brass band combo. Lorne was an adoring husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Uncle.

I have many happy memories of times my late husband Roy and I spent with Lorne in Toronto . Lorne was a kind caring man genuinely concerned for the well-being of others. My heart felt sympathy and prayers to all Lorne’s family.

Although I never knew Lorne, I have known his sister Marion and her husband Gerry Webb since 1964. I am sure that in some of our conversations over the years Lorne’s came up. This is certainly a sad time for everyone who knew him but it so good to know that he lived a good and long life. My condolences.

I feel so fortunate I was able to get to know Lorne just a little bit during our visit last month. I know he will be missed very dearly by the many that loved him.

Donna and I knew Lorne for many years, I worked with Lorne at Burroughs, both of us as service technicians. Lorne was always a great person to work with, always friendly, quiet, gentle, and generous. I will miss his visits to Ontario and our conversations about the good old days, over lunch. Donna and I send sincere sympathy to all the family at this sad time.

My sincere condolences to Ronalynn, Lorne’s brother Dale and sister Marion and their spouses and children David, Jenn and Deb, spouses and grandkids. As a cousin I remember fun family times together over the years. Lorne was always ready with a smile, a story and true caring. Always a gentle man, he will be greatly missed. Sandy and Terry Martin
