
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lee Gordon Hurd, who died peacefully at home in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on April 7, 2025, at the age of 96 after a brief illness.
Born 16 July 1928, and raised in Turner Valley, Alberta, Lee graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. His career was dedicated to the natural gas industry in Western Canada, culminating in his work at Foster Research in Calgary. Lee was a well-respected figure in his field, known for his dedication and expertise.
Beyond his professional life, Lee was a skilled carpenter and also found great joy and tranquility in sailing and golfing.
Lee was a loving husband to his wife, Judy, and his children, David, Douglas, Teri, Scott, and Tracey. He will also be remembered fondly by his grandson, Logan.
In accordance with Lee’s wishes, there will be no formal service. His family will gather later this year to scatter his ashes in the Turner Valley area, a place that held a special significance throughout his life.

Teri, I am truly sorry for the loss of your dad! I remember him fondly as the guy who drove me home after a crash on my bicycle and who we would go to visit in his apartment downtown! He was a very nice person to me!
