I’m still in shock & disbelief. So sudden and tradgic! You will be sadly missed by all of us Ken 🙁 You were a terrific brother inlaw & treated Sharon so well.

Ken will be remembered by all the people he touched in his short life. When we think of him we’re reminded of his easy going personality, warm smile and his love for Sharon and life. We are fortunate to be amongst his friends missing him today.

Ken was one the friendliest people, I ever met, he greeted everyone with that sincere “smile” and how can I help you and he meant it. I’ve been retired from the Trades Division of Camosun College for a few years so I haven’t seen Ken in a while, but I know he will be sadly missed by his family and colleagues, RIP Ken, sincere condolences to your family as well.

As an employee working side by side with Ken for the last 6 years it’s hard at this time to put into words how much we all miss him here. I am already missing our lunchtime walks together talking about all things bright and cheery. As I think about his short time here with us it is made somewhat easier when I remember just how much he loved his work here at Camosun Sheet Metal. He was unquestionably a most dedicated instructor and I saw him regularly mentoring students to a degree rarely seen these days. As a result he’s had such an impact on both myself and the students that we are all struggling with this news and I know I speak for all of us when I extend to Ken’s family our sincere condolences. Rest easy friend…………….

For as long as I have been in the trade as a journeyman ( superintendent ) Ken Macdonald’s name will always come up as my teacher. Thank you, Ken, for all the knowledge in the sheet metal industry. Uncle Ken you meant more to me than you probably knew. You would always talk about building boats and welding, and because of that I do what I do. I couldn’t wait to tell you I got my red seal when I came over this spring. Guess I’ll have to wait a little longer to tell you.

Ken was a great colleague and friend. He was a consistently positive, helpful, thoughtful and generous fellow Trades instructor, and someone with whom you could have a chin-wag on virtually any topic you’d care to choose.

It still doesn’t seem quite real that I can’t just walk up the hill to his office and say hello. I will miss him, as will the colleagues he leaves behind, and the hundreds of students whose lives he touched.

To Sharon, and his other family members, thank you for sharing Ken with us. He is gone far too soon.

Like so many other friends and family have already stated, shock and disbelief hardly seem adequate to express our feelings at this time. Ken’s sudden passing will leave a hole in our lives and in his case it really is true “the good die young”. Our hearts and sympathy go out to you, Sharon. We will be there to help through these challenging times ahead.

I knew Ken since he started teaching at the college. He was one of the most helpful Instructors I knew. He always had or made the time to help me with his expertise. I was able to lean on that knowledge on many occasions. I have been retired few years now and I remember conversations with you and Ken talking about retirement. It is not surprising to see all of the beautiful comments made by Ken’s many friends and family. It is with a heavy heart that I write this message, and although time and busy lives have taken us in different directions, I too will never forget Ken’s outgoing nature, warm smile and zest for life as he so enjoyed wind surfing and hiking to name a few. We too are so saddened by this very unhappy news and Sharon our thoughts are with you. Ken and I remember a very fun camping trip many years ago that we had with both you and Ken at Ellison Park in Vernon where we so enjoyed the time we spent with you both. He has been taken way too soon. Our deep condolences to you Sharon, and to your families.

I was so sad to hear of Ken’s passing. Over my years at Camosun College Ken was so supportive of our Fine Furniture students. Whenever we needed help with a metal problem Ken would jump right in and solve it for us. I am travelling in India right now and Ken was one of the last people at the college I talked to before I left. He was so excited about my trip and it is with a heavy heart I realize I will not be able to share my travel stories with him. My sincere condolences to you Sharon and to all of the many others who will miss Ken.

I was very saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. We were colleagues at Camosun from the time he started until I retired a few years ago. Ken was such an upbeat person, always smiling and ready to share a few words of good natured banter as he passed anyone in the hallway. Ken was a top notch educator, valued by his students for his endless talent both as an instructor and as a tradesman. Ken genuinely cared about the success of every student in his class. I’m so sorry for your loss, as well as all of ours here at Camosun. I’ve so many good memories of Ken who so good naturedly helped so many of our Fine Furniture students and their never-ending bizarre requests. Nor his sincere gratitude whenever we helped his folks. Ken was one of the very best things about working as an instructor at Camosun.

Ken was my instructor at Camosun last year. He was a good instructor, a good guy and someone who cared about his students.

We want to wish Sharon, and all of her and Ken’s friends and family that were blessed with his life, the strength the carry on. Although our Ken times were limited to family dinners and the odd gathering, our memories of Ken will always be of the huge smile and genuine concern for how others were. Our conversations were always engaging whether it was beer pong technique, hockey or wind surfing the Geogia Straight. We will miss him. Love Todd & Tina

One of my best childhood memories is coming over to see you and Sharon and we spent the day at the lake with my dad and hiking up to the bunker. You were a wonderful man who touched so many lives. Forever in our hearts. RIP Uncle Ken xx
