Jozef (Joe) Henry Glab passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21^st, 2022 at the Victoria General Hospital, with his wife and daughters by his side at 76 years of age.  Predeceased by his parents, Stanislaw and Stanislawa Glab, his identical twin brother Larry, and youngest brother Wesley. He leaves behind his wife, Krystyna, and daughters, Joanne (Ryan) and Trish (Darryl), grandchildren Kyle, Emilia, and Lucas, as well as extended family in St. Catharines, ON and in Poland.

Born in Zabrze, Poland, Joe was the elder of the twins, who as he told it, were notoriously active. From their earliest days there were no shenanigans they couldn’t succeed at getting in to. As the years would pass Joe and Larry would channel their energies into soccer, boxing, music, and dancing. Joe excelled at dancing and toured both Poland and eastern Canada and the US. He first came to Canada in 1965, returned to Poland to marry his partner of 55 years, Krystyna, and they would eventually settle back in Ontario in 1968.

Joe learned to weld in Poland and brought this skill with him to St. Catharines, Ontario. He would become incredibly proficient working with stainless steel, building on ships, yachts, and in breweries, wineries, and distilleries among many other things.

In 1987 Joe followed his friends, family, and heart to Victoria. He transitioned from dancing to cards, and in the later years the stories flew from his mind like the cards flew from his hands. Loud and stubborn to a fault, for all his passion he rarely wore his heart on his sleeve and only softened with the arrival of his grandkids, who he defended as fiercely as any of his adventures (whether they were true or not).  Always boastful, as we sat around the table and his kids and grandkids grew, he became more and more proud of them, and told them as much.

The last night Joe Glab spent with his family, he sat quietly at the table after dinner, a proud man.

Deep appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the Intensive Care Unit who supported Joe until his passing.

Memorial remembrances can be made to a charity of choice.
