Florence Lavina Maron

Posted By Pacific Coast Cremation On June 10, 2021 @ 4:08 pm In Obituaries | 8 Condolences

July 9, 1940 Consort, AB – May 20th, 2021 Colwood, BC

She was a prairie girl who loved the ocean, a best friend to any animal she met, a fiercely loving, protective and supportive Mother, and a lover of desserts of any variety.  Flo, as she was known to all, was kind and generous, quick to laugh, had a smile that would light up a room, and always one to join in.  Her parents, Leo and Lydia, had nine children who were all raised on the family farm in Brownfield, AB.  Flo loved the farm and her happiest times were spent riding horses to collect the stray cattle.  She left the farm after finishing school and moved to the big city of Edmonton where she eventually married and had three children.  She loved raising her children and was active as a coach for Brenda’s winning baseball team along with coaching Doug and Wayne’s hockey teams.  She was also Brown Owl for many years for Brenda’s Brownie pack.  She thoroughly enjoyed traveling with her life partner Pat, and after his passing, continued travelling with Brenda.  Flo always enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, curling bonspiels, crafts of all kinds, and of course the aforementioned desserts!  She was beautiful and funny, and though Alzheimer’s disease had nibbled away at her memory for the past ten years, her amazing soul remained intact.

Florence passed away suddenly and painlessly on May 20, 2021 at the Priory Care Home in Colwood, BC.  She is preceded by her life partner Pat McNamara, her parents Leo and Lydia Maron and her Sister Ruth.  Flo is survived by her daughter Brenda of Colwood, BC, her son Doug and his wife Melisa of Edmonton, AB (and their children Dante and Kaley), and her son Wayne and his partner Sue of Vernon, BC (and his daughters Falun and Schalyn).  Flo is also survived by her siblings Irene Guy & her husband Ken, Laureen Schmidt, Richard Maron & his wife Gloria, Donald Maron & his wife Linda, Doris Maron, Elizabeth Whitelock, and Vernon Maron & his wife Terry.  Flo was much loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

A celebration of life will take place at Red Willow Community Centre near Stettler, AB on August 14th, 2021.  Donations to your local Alzheimer’s society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

Thank you Barb. I’ll always remember mom’s concern for your safety and how we would walk you home many Satursay nights to watch you get in your home safely. She was a gem.

It is with a sad heart hearing the passing of Flo. We were fortunate to meet Brenda and then Flo when we serviced their vehicles in Edmonton. Brenda became our accountant many many years ago and still is today. Staying in touch, visiting both of them when they moved to Kelowna and then Victoria has left us with lasting memories of Flo, her kindness, smile, zest for desserts and life. Rest in peace Flo and stay stong Brenda – we are here for you anytime you need us.

Thanks so much Mark. Mom often talked about the day she spent with Sue when we went fishing. Mom loved sharing the carriage ride with Sue that gorgeous day in Victoria. She smiled for days after your visit. We’ll all miss her smile.

Auntie Florance
I love you very much
Compassion and patience are what you have taught me in the time we shared together. I’ll miss you here but know that we are one in Spirit.
Till we meet again, my thoughts are with you.

And she loves you too Brian and she is so proud of you. She always loved the time she shared with you. She would often yell me how you would call her for breakfast when you stayed with her. She loved your breakfasts. And her patience was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing.

Condolence from Doris M Maron on June 13th, 2021 7:15 pm

Florence (I never could get used to calling her Flo) was my rock. She was always there for me. She took me in on a few occasions and I am forever grateful. We had so many good times together. She was always so kind and thoughtful, never turning anyone away. I will cherish those memories.

Antie Flo.
One of my all time favorite aunts.
That is what Shirley and I knew her as and called her by. When our families were young we visited back and forth quite often, our moms would meet up for a coffee while we were all away at school. It was great growing up with cousins that lived close. It made it easier for sitting duties when called upon. Always a smile, easy to get a laugh out of, interested in what you had to say to her and genuine nice lady. As we progressed into young adults, Shirley got the Curling bug, playing on various teams that Auntie Flo was on or skipping. Those outings and bonspiels always had humorous stories surrounding them. Unfortunately, there are no story tellers left to recant the antics. As adults we seemed to all go our ways, touching base occasionally but nowhere near enough. Our condolences go out to the cousins on the passing of their mother. Passing is a known life event, but that makes it no easier on our hearts and minds.
Good thoughts from our family to all of you.
