Posted By Pacific Coast Cremation On December 21, 2017 @ 2:40 pm In Obituaries | 2 Condolences

Longmuir, Cecilia Dorothy (Dorothy) – born in Vancouver, passed away at home in Victoria with daughters Josephine and Janet and grandson James by her side, after succumbing to her battle with colon cancer and Alzheimer’s. Predeceased by mother – Mary Vozza (nee Bonar), father – Louis Vozza, brothers Lou, Alf, Ray, John and sister Veronica, and her loving husband Alistair Ernest. Survived by daughters Janet and Josephine, and grandson James. Dorothy was active in her community of Point Grey where she grew up, attended OLPH school and parish, married, and raised her family. Mom fondly remembered the start of her secretarial career at UBC chemistry department. Shortly after, she met her square-dance partner and husband-to-be, Alistair Ernest. After being widowed, she worked at Pt. Grey Golf Club, then spent many years with local engineering/architectural firms. She was also very involved in her daughters’ lives with soccer, skiing, music, etc. Dorothy loved to travel, host bridge parties and dinners with her friends and family, and dancing. Quick to make friends wherever her travels and personal life took her, she was loved by many. A celebration of her life (she always loved a good party!) will be held in the new year at Ocean View Cemetery, date to be determined. Please contact the family for more information.

I will miss her more than words can express. I’m so glad I was able to spend so much time with “Auntie D” over the last several years & see many sides of her I never saw as a child growing up with sleepovers with Janet & Josephine. She wasn’t just my Aunt, she became like a second mom to me when my mom passed & a good friend too. Luv you to the moon & back Auntie…say Hi to everyone long since gone for me pls. Hugs Hugs Hugs.

Condolence from Lynne Triffon on December 11th, 2018 4:31 pm

Dear Janet and Jo, So sorry to hear about Dorothy’s passing so long past the date. Dorothy and my Mom, Betty Wall (formerly Triffon), were great friends and traveling companions for many years. I have many fond memories of your Mom. Sorry to have missed her Celebration of Life. It doesn’t matter how old we are or how old our Mom’s are at the time, we are never ready to lose them. Cherish your memories and raise a glass to your Mom often, as I do – I know they would both approve!
