Bryan M. Mee

August 23, 1935 – November 16, 2023

Born in Victoria, August 23, 1935, to Clarence and Thelma Mee. Dad is predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Curt. Dad has two sisters, Glenys and Penny and many nieces and nephews. Dad was very community minded, being part of the Esquimalt Lions, Esquimalt Neighbourhood House, Esquimalt Silver Threads writing group and Esquimalt Police board. His volunteerism earned him the Order of BC. Dad became a teacher at age 18 and for the next 37 years he taught in the Victoria School District taking time out to teach in Ghana and Jamaica with a young family in tow. He retired as a Principal at Craigflower Elementary.
Dad met the love of his life, Robin, at the Sunshine camp in Sooke, where he was a camp counsellor. He was so sure he asked her to marry him after only three weeks. They just celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Dad taught his three kids (Michele, Kerry, Dwane), a love of giving back to the community, taking us along to the CNIB and the Lion’s work parties when we were young. His grandchildren fondly remember going to the cottage at Shawnigan Lake.
Dad loved writing, directing small productions of plays with a twist, working with his hands and his love of music was imbued in everything he did. His talent was extraordinary, playing the accordion and piano.
At every chance, Dad and Mom travelled the world. They regularly went to Bashford’s Spa in California, on cruises and had adventures overseas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Camp Shawnigan Easter Seal camp or the Esquimalt Neighbourhood house. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
