Because of you Beryl, I learned about lavender, I loved a dog named Lady, learned to eat properly with a knife and fork, learned to say please and thank you and excuse me instead of “Hey you!”; because of you, I met some decent people like your daughter Susan who is such a good sewer and baker and her husband David with the cool accent who is a talented carpenter. Because of you, I learned to stand up for myself. I swam in the ocean on a holiday and Debbie and I pretended we were being chased by sharks (Jaws movie was out); and because of you, I met your son Stephen who encouraged me to write stories (and told me not to swear so much-it was good advice). I have good memories of roast beef dinners and playing tag at the park, and listening to Barbara Streisand. Your strength helped me learn to have a thicker skin. When faced with challenges I’d think, “What would Beryl do?” I learned to laugh at myself instead of taking myself so seriously. I have many good memories that I will cherish. Because of you, I got a bible and learned about God. You were a classy lady and the one thing I really admired was when you made a mistake, you admitted it and apologized. I remember and it was healing. God Bless Beryl. You are in heaven now with Jesus and the angels.
