September 20, 1955 – August 24, 2026
After facing significant health challenges related to chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), Dave passed away on August 24, 2026, at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C.
Dave was born in Chatham, Ontario, to loving parents Merle and Weldon Brown. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Stuart, and his cherished son, Dr. Paul Brown.
Dave lived a full and happy life of adventure, achievement, and lasting friendships. Over a 32-year career, he was an award-winning teacher and successful high school track and football coach. He took on a variety of leadership roles across Ontario, Alberta, and B.C.
A gifted athlete and natural mentor, Dave inspired those around him and had a lasting, positive impact on many young people, especially students who faced challenges at school. He made a difference in the world.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in Ontario next September 2027 for close family and friends. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness, and support. Donations to BC Cancer would be greatly appreciated.
