Paul was born on July 21, 1957 in Pickering, Ont and died Jan. 15, 2026 in Victoria, B.C.
    He was 68 yrs old.
When our Mother told each of us to put our name on whatever she had that we would like to have, Paul’s name went on her bookcase!
He must have had to buy a lot more bookcases to contain 600+ books he accumulated!

I remember my younger brother as a little critter with his big cowboy boots and hat.

Then there was the time we were all on our “prayer handles” saying the family rosary with the picture of the Virgin Mary on the television and a candle glowing softly in the dark…,when I noticed he disappeared from beside me…,then returned moments later with a molasses and peanut butter sandwich and a big smile on his face.

Here is an old Irish blessing often used at funerals

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.”

    The journey continues,
May the force be with you đź––

    So long my old friend.
We were out of touch for too long, but I’ll always treasure our years together as friends: hockey, poker, and whatever other mischief we shared with our gang in high school, and even that one year at University in Sudbury.
Hope we can catch up again somewhere, someday.

I am sorry to hear this sad news! Paul was a dear friend who I met when we studied at Laurentian together. You couldn’t meet a kinder soul. I will remember Paul for his listening ear, his warm hugs, and his zest for life! Sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends!

    Godspeed Uncle Paul.

I remember our high-speed rides through winding Haliburton roads where you cautioned my not quite 16 year-old self to “never drive as fast as I am”.

Thanks for the fun, laughter — and road safety lessons.

I first met Paul 30 years ago playing hockey at the Victoria Pearkes Rink. We were all amazed when Paul would show up for hockey on his motorcycle with the bag and sticks strapped to the back. He fit in well with the group and we enjoyed many years on the ice.
He was there for me when I broke my leg while playing. We had car pooled together as we lived only a block apart. It was my car, but he drove and dropped me off at the hospital and I gave him strict instructions to just drop off the car at my place, and not to wake my wife as I didn’t want her sleep disturbed. (we finished hockey at around 1 am) Thankfully, he didn’t listen and knocked on my door. My wife showed up a few minutes later while I was waiting at emergency. She was grateful that he didn’t listen to me.
That was the last time I played, and the group retired the next year.
We also had a love of motorcycling and went on several rides together. The first one in particular was memorable, I was a new rider and we did the loop around Jordan River and Sooke. He helped pull me out of the ditch on that one.
During Covid we went on several walks around the neighborhood together. A good chat and exercise.
And in the last few years I was an occasional visitor to the Oak Bay Rec Center pool where Paul was a regular.
He was always dependable and in good spirits. A joy to spend time with and a positive beacon.
    He will be missed.

My condolences to the family and loved ones, Me, including some of our staff at Floyd’s diner had the absolute joy of having Paul grace our presence over the last few years, more recently and more frequently the last few months. We are all deeply saddened to hear about his passing, he brought joy and a smile to our days in the mornings, rain or shine he brought the good energy with him regardless of how he was feeling. He was more the just a guest gracing our restaurant he became a friend to many of us.

Thank you Paul for the all the witty jokes and warm smiles ❤️

It’s interesting that the memory jumping into my mind was watching him play a hockey game in Minden. I had been told me that he takes a lot of penalties. Sure enough the first time he gets the puck he skates towards the other team’s net, knocks over the other defenceman and gets a penalty. After the game I asked him why. He said it was easier to go through the guy then around him. It made me smile and it makes me smile now. Rest in Peace my wise uncle

I am very saddened by the news of Paul’s passing. I met him at either Camosun College or Oak Bay Rec Centre around 2000 I believe. We were both long time regulars at the late swim at the rec centre. I think he really had fun being one of the guys there. He was as a very good listener, and we enjoyed a lot of laughs in those days.
His health and recovery were extremely important to him, and I do believe he was content and happy.
We had lost touch in recent years. He couldn’t access his Facebook account for some reason, and Covid ended late night swims at the rec centre. He kept himself busy and people did like him.
I found out of his passing by looking at his Facebook page as I was thinking about him. I will miss Paul and hope he is at peace.
