Gordon James Reisig

December 14, 2025 by Pacific Coast Cremation 10 Condolences

Our creative, generous, passionate uncle and friend has left us.
Our memories and so, so many amazing works remain.

From Gord:
“The potter’s life has been good to me. Days are never long enough, always more to learn to keep moving forward. My philosophy to life as an artist/potter: clay + create = happiness.”

So very sad to hear this news. As one of the Third Avenue Gang back in the day here in Chilliwack, I have great memories of Gord & his family.
We all knew Gord had an incredible talent as a potter and I bought items from him way back when, when he still lived in our area (and still have two of his pieces of work!).
A few members of our “Gang” met up a few years ago and he hadn’t changed a bit – still one of the “good guys”.
My condolences to to his partner, Janet and his family.

My sincere condolences Janet, he was a great guy, talented potter and artist and I was always in awe of the Grouse as he made his way through life doing what he loved to do..making pottery. When we last talked, he said he said he’d let me know what it’s like on the other side, I’m awaiting his call. Thank you Janet and Carly for being there for my dear friend Gord, he’ll be missed.

It’s been awhile since we last met. Gord was always a part of humor wherever he went. I can always recall having a good hearty gafaw every time we would run into each other. He will be sadly missed and my condolences goes out to the family.
Not saying I’ll see you later, but it’s been a pleasure. Happy potting Grouse 👍

I look back on many happy times visiting with Gord back on Third Avenue and then as neighbour’s in Yarrow. Gord was always happy to spend time smoking, laughing and bs’ing. RIP old friend!

Gordie was the big fellow and I was the tiny guy that made him my giant friend in grades 6 & 7. Leaving Chilliwack in 1971 was my last good conversation with Gordie until in Victoria we renewed our friendship as Seniors. He said to meet at the local coffee shop at noon, so we each were there but kept looking around at tables with only one person. It took quite a few long minutes but finally Gordie came over and said my name and I recognized his cheerful voice and had to get used to seeing his new Senior look. He spoke lots of family and friends sharing the heart issues of life. God’s special comfort for Janet and friends. Now Gord is in the Potter’s hands and the goodness of the final touches.

I first met Gord at Art School in Nelson and then in 1973, we became fellow
potters in Yarrow. He helped me get started when I struggled.
    His creative genious was inspiring.
Yarrow was not the same when Gord moved to the Island.
I missed his friendship and brotherhood in clay and can only
imagine how much more he is missed by loved ones now.
