It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Demorest, who left us at the age of 72 on August 17, 2024. Born in 1951 in Southey, Saskatchewan, he was the third of six children, growing up with five sisters—two older and three younger who loved their Hoagie immensely.
A proud father of four children and two stepchildren, Brian found life’s joy in being a grandfather to 19 grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In high school, Brian was a passionate football player, a love that carried into his adulthood as he remained a devoted fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his unwavering support for his family.
Brian will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the laughter he brought into our lives. His dry, sometimes dark, humour could come across as serious if not for his sly smile and a familiar twinkle in his eyes.
Brians quick wit was evident in his card playing skills and ability to prevail at trivia board games. He also loved to have long, intelligent discussions about politics and world events.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life and the memories we hold dear.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

I worked under Brian in logging camp for several years. He was an exceptional mentor / teacher in the big red cedar scaling as well as how to adapt to camp life culture. He was always patient and kind and made me feel like one of the “guys”. Being a woman in logging camp in my early 20’s I cannot say enough about how supportive your father was to my success there.
