Justine Valerie Hackett
Born: Johannesburg, South Africa on September 23rd, 1929
Died: Victoria, BC on March 2nd, 2021
Justine Hackett passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on March 2nd with her daughter, Diane, by her side. Justine is survived by her daughter, four grandchildren, Michael & Kerry-Lynn, Taryn & Sean, and nine great grandchildren – living in Canada and South Africa.
Justine grew up in South Africa. She moved with her architect husband, Don, and toddler son, Alan, to Southern Rhodesia in 1956 where Diane was born. These were happy years. They reluctantly moved back to Johannesburg in 1962.
Sadly, Alan predeceased her in 1998 and Don in 2000. Justine emigrated to Victoria in 2002 to be with Diane and her family who had moved to Victoria in 1995.
Justine lived a full, adventurous and happy life. Always a kind, considerate and gentle lady and friend to everyone around her. She had an artistic flair for watercolour painting and gardening.
The family would like to thank the staff at the James Bay Care Centre (especially the second floor) for the gentle respectful care that Justine received in her final four years.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date.
