Kenneth William Hehr passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital.
He was loved by everyone who met him. He said he was going get his old work crew that have passed on and start on a new project. That’s how strong he was no matter what confronted him. He was an extraordinary craftsman in the tile and granite business. He worked not only in Victoria but also on cruise ships and even for the Sultan of Oman. He was proud of these facts.
Ken was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, lived in Calgary Alberta and Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by daughter, Karen (Oct 2009) and son, Daron (Feb 2020)
He is survived by his children, Jason from Victoria and Byron, Kenton and Heather from Alberta.
He is also survived by his soul mate for past 28 years, Denise Etches and Jason’s mother Patricia Lee.
A memorial will be arranged soon and friends and family will be notified.

Ken and I met in the six mile house in 1973-74.
He mentored me, as he did many younger people to be a good tradesmen and good people.
I was 19 and Ken 38 when we met. Shortly after we started a small tile business. Then Ken was invited into a partnership in Dynel marble and brought me along as an employee.
After six or seven years Ken decided it was time for something new. Of course that would be the first of numerous new granite operations.
As often happens we drifted apart, attending a junior hockey game together once in a while and lunch now and then.
Even now when working on a project I’ll think “would Ken be pleased” with the quality and progress.
He was a good man, played an important role in many young people’s development, including mine.
I will never forget Ken and I’ll always be grateful for the positive impact he had on my life.
To the entire family I am so sorry, he will be missed.

To Denise and Ken’s family I am so sorry to have heard that Ken passed away. My sincere condolences. I met Ken at the famous HalfWay in Esquaimalt with Dennis whom was also a very good friend of Ken. He was a very likeable and kind person.
