Today we celebrate the life of William (Bill) Tuke. Bill was born in Rotherham, S Yorkshire, England to Sid and Elsie Tuke on November 13, 1940. Bill grew up with five siblings; predeceased by Derek and Susan; and survived by Janet, Jennifer and Eileen.
Bill, never one to settle down in one place soon set out onto a life full of adventure. Some places Bill rambled into include: Aiden, the highlands of Scotland, the many trails of Derbyshire, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, and finally to the country he was to call home, Canada and the province of Alberta settling in Coleman, Grande Cache and Carrot Creek. Bill had a love for the outdoors and continued to ramble throughout his life both on foot and on horseback.
When not on a walk about Bill was by trade an Electrician. He also was in the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue, was a Park Warden in the Peak District and participated in Mine Search & Rescue with the United Steelworkers of America.
Bill was a beloved husband to Anne Tuke (Nettleship) (p.d. 2008) (m. 1964). With Anne, Bill raised three amazing daughters, Rachel, Allison and Jill. As well Bill is survived by his grandchildren, Brett, Cassandra, Alexandria, Connor and Daniel; and by his son-in-law, Rob White.
Bill is remembered by his family for his love of hiking, folk music, the mountains and hockey specifically his Oilers (both here and abroad). Please remember him over a nice glass of whiskey and think of him as you summit a hill.
