Reginald Patrick King

January 19, 2016 by Pacific Coast Cremation 22 Condolences

Passed away on Tuesday, January 19th, at the Victoria Hospice after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Reg was born on March 17, 1959 in Victoria, B.C. He attended Reynolds Secondary School before embarking on a long career with the provincial government. Reg was a natural athlete who excelled at fast-pitch in his youth and at golf in more recent years; but it was his wit, his ability to tell a great story, and the life-long friendships that he made at school, work, and in the clubhouse for which he will be most remembered. Reg was predeceased in death by his father Wayne (Caren Cameron), and his father-in- law Pat Doerksen. The proud son of Linda (née Thatcher), Reg will be missed dearly by Rita (née Doerksen), his wife of twenty-five years, her mother Dorothy, sister Carla Davies (Kerry) and their sons Luke and Tom; his sisters Alanna Waldie (Doug), Suzanne, and Janet (Greg Link); and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family is planning a celebration of life at a location and date to be determined.

To Rita and family, our heart felt condolences. I’ll always remember Reggie as one of the nicest, funniest, and completely humble guy I’ve ever known. I had the pleasure of knowing him for over 20 years and shared some hilarious moments that cannot be duplicated. He left us far too soon.
Rita, if you ever want to tip a glass of La Crema with us, just let us know.

I remember baby sitting Reg and his sisters 50 years ago when the Kings lived near Reynolds school. Played bridge with his Dad and uncle Bill King. The memories are somewhat nostalgic but happy ones.
Condolences to to all his family

It is indeed a very sad time! I have always wished that I would be gone before each of my boys. Reggie and I saw a lot of each other during those good years. He was a student of mine for five years, actually he was more than a student he was one of my family. We saw each other everyday, he was always positive, always tried his best and shared himself with every one. The thought that we will never meet again hurts. As Ever, Jack.

Unbelievable that a young man such as Reg has left us way too soon. At the ballpark, I watched Reg grow up from a young boy into a fine man and a very good ballplayer, following in his Dad’s footsteps. I will try to get a message to “Hub” as Reg was of his favorites.
    Condolences to Rita and family.

I knew Reg through school, no matter who you where, when ever he said “Hi” to you, it was always with a smile on his face. In fact it is hard to picture him with out a smile. You will be missed for sure my friend, other class mates are there to greet you. My heart goes out to his wife , kids, and the rest of his family..

Mind blowing, Reg was so cool, friendly and he did have the greatest smile. He was a couple years older than me at Reynolds but always smiled saying hi in the hallway. I saw him ages ago at the Ingie and he remembered me and no doubt help from my brother. Sorry to hear this, wish his family my sincere condolences. He was was the best peach on the tree.

I had the great pleasure of working with Reggie for 20 years .He always found a light-hearted way of chasticing you if you messed up while he was my supervisor. His very friendly ,kind disposition was a very valued asset to have when in charge of others. His love of rock music was similar to mine and one time I was singing a song which he joined me and it made it all the more fun.My heart broke when I heard the prognosis for his illness.I will never forget his big happy laugh which always made him fun to be around.God bless you Reggie!

The best part of going to work everyday was that Reg would be there with some kind of funny story to tell of his many escapades. He was truly the nicest man I have every known and feel honored to be able to say he was my friend. The world is a much sadder place without him.

Dear Linda, Rita, Caren Alanna, Suzanne, Janet and families,

Our deepest sympathy at your loss of Reg We first met him as a teenager and were impressed by his open, friendly manner. Later, we enjoyed watching his skill at ball games. Occasionally, we would encounter him at races with Rita and get caught up on family news.

    Our sincere condolences,

    Dearest Reg,
My heart breaks over learning of your passing, it was only recently Annie broke the news from Mike Piechnik. A tear escapes when I think of you gone and the sadness consumes so readily from this sorrowful news. Thirty odd years have passed and I have held you so dear with ongoing respect, affection and tenderness. I remember your gentle nature, your kindness, your optimism, your engaging humour, the love for your family and friends and your infectious smile that was so quick to greet and overwhelm.
My expectations were simple, for you to live a long, healthy and fulfilling life with your dearest wife Rita; you were both supposed to grow old together and share life’s adventures. You were cheated of so many more years together and this world has become a lesser place without you in it.
You were in excess of being just a wonderful guy; you were the embodiment of a sunshiny day, a home run with full bases and a hole in one on a par 5.
We all know your memory will live on through those that were privileged to have known you. You have now become Rita’s Angel with glorious and majestic wings.
Rest easy dear Reg, rest easy.
Warmest respect and esteem to Rita, Linda, Alanna, Sue, Jan, Walter, Caren and the King family.
    God bless
