In Memorial

Passed away at Victoria B.C on June 28, 2015 after a lengthy illness at the age of 74 years. Born in Victoria B.C on Feb 10, 1941, Bill is predeceased by his parents, Bill and Alice Donald; and sister, Claudia Lowry.

Survived his loving wife of 39 years, Edith Donald; lovingly remembered by his children and step children: Brian Donald, Teri Harder (Steve), Kimberley Stevens, Maureen Redsky (Ted), Sylvia Diakow, Kim Diakow, Gary & Chris Diakow and Donna Friesen (Brad); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many many dear friends.

Bill was a man who filled a room with smart remarks, quick wit and much laughter. He was loved dearly by his family and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He loved the ocean and that will be where his ashes will be returned to as per his wishes.

Special thanks to the very special people of Sooke for being there for Bill for many years, he knew he was loved and was grateful, thankful and most of all, happy. Also the nurses at Victoria Hospice for helping on the final leg of his journey.

No service by request.

A Celebration of life to be held at his favourite neighbour pub Buffy’s Pub 6858 W Coast Rd Sooke on July 4, 2015 from 1pm until we are done.

Hi dad, I miss you like crazy , I miss your voice and your handsome face. My heart hurts so very much knowing I won’t see you or talk to you anymore . You have always been a big part of my life and now there is a void. I know you always believed I was strong but I have to say right now I not, I am a lost little girl and I just want you to be here. Until the time you come to meet me , I will love and miss you

I will always remember Yahtzee and grease at your house during sleepovers, the loving straight to it advice you always gave, the road trip through BC where we got to just sit in that very unsafe by standards now van. My children will always remember you as grandpa billy goat and I know you will watch over and protect them. I’m sorry I didn’t call more or visit more. But the memories I have will always be happy one. We love u forever!

I’m going to miss you so much!!!
I’m so glad that I got a chance to fly out and visit with you over the Easter weekend. We got a chance to catch up on things, and to reminisce about the old days. Not only did we have a few laughs, but we also got to say goodbye, and I’m so very, very grateful for that. I wish I didn’t live so far from you and Auntie Edie as I would loved to have spent more time with you. My heart is broken into so many pieces now, but I take comfort knowing that you’re not suffering anymore.
You are a very special person, and you will be missed by so many people.
    Rest in peace Uncle Bill.
    I love you…always and forever.

Hey Bill, I am going to miss the hugs you always gave me when we saw each other, which wasn’t often but when we did you always made me laugh. You always were a charmer! You certainly will be missed by many, but I know your pain is gone and we all will have incredible memories of you. I am so glad I was able to see you on your last day, even then I knew you had something smart to say when you squeezed my hand. Until we meet again, try not to give the rest of the gang up there too bad of a time!

Billy Boy, Don’t have anything profound to say. All I know is that you will be missed by so many. You certainly brought a lot of love and laughter into our lives. Say hello to Aunt Alice & Uncle Bill and Claudia. If you can, track down my parents and Peggy for me and let them know too that we are fine.
Love you Billy Boy and will miss your one liners.

Wild Bill only begins to describe how I felt about you! You always brought a smile, a laugh and a lot of fun whenever you were around. The family is going to miss your sassy and sparkling personality. Perhaps we will get together for a hand or two of poker when I see you again. You will be missed Bill and thought of often.
with love and peace to you. xo

hi dad, I don’t want you to be gone, I want to pick up the phone and call you to make plans for Christmas and for your birthday.. it is hard all of the time but I am keeping the promise I made you and Steve , I am holding strong, I try to stay away from the dark place that I want to go to sometimes.. Sometimes when I close my eyes all I can see if the final moments, I don’t want to see those..I want to see your smile, hear your laughter..listen to a really bad joke.. I just want you to be here dad I really do
